Day 2: BANGKOK - FLIGHT TO CHIANG RAI (B)




Breakfast at the hotel and then you will be transferred to the airport for your Flight to Chiang Rai. Upon arrival our driver will come to pick you and start visit the city.
You will begin to visit the main attractions in Chiang Rai: Wat Phra Kaew where the Emerald Buddha, Wat Phra Singha where the famous Buddha image housed here is believed to be built in 157 A.D. in Sri Lanka or Ceylon and was brought to Thailand in the Sukhothai period (1238-1438). Continue to visit the Hill tribe Museum and Education Center with the intention of teaching people about the hill tribes and strengthening the position in Thai society. Then visit to Wat Rong Khun (also known as White Temple) – the unique northern art temple with the beautiful painting and the chapel of this temple is in pure white and adorned with exquisite traditional Thai style stuccowork, aiming to represent heaven. Day 3: CHIANG RAI - CHIANG KHONG - HUAY XAI - LUANG NAMTHA (B)




Leave Chiang Rai for the Thai border town of Chiang Khong, in time to be first in line to cross the border to Huay Xai, Laos, at the famous Me Kong River when the border opens at 8AM. You will be welcomed by local tour guide of Laos Travel and get transferred to Luang Nam Tha - a capital of the province of the same name, is particularly quiet and relaxing, and generally represents an essential stop for those wishing to discover the natural wealth of the region of northwestern Laos.
Area Muang Nam Tha present some points of interest: the museum of Luang Nam Tha, containing articles and a local section devoted to the revolution, the night market, great place to sample local food, and above all minorities and traditional villages just outside of downtown.
In addition, the city of Luang Nam Tha has a very interesting stupa, the That Phum Puk, perched on a hill surrounded by rice fields, and a waterfall, accessible from the village Nam Sun where you can see papermaking in bamboo. The region is famous for its huge evergreen forests, an ideal place for practicing ecotourism. Accommodation at the Boat Landing Guest House, situated in a pleasant environment along the river. Day 4: LUANG NAM THA - VIENG PHOUKHA - BAN NAM O - BAN NAM LO (B,L,D)




We depart at 8:30AM from the Eco-Guide Service office (Eco-Guide Service office is 59 km further from Luang Namtha town). Transfer by pick-up (or tuk-tuk) takes us to Ban Nam O, a traditional village of the Khmu Kwaen ethnic groups. This is where our first village-based guide joins the group. The first half of the day follows the meandering Nam O River and its lush valley. A Lao-style picnic lunch is taken on the way when hiking across several ridges offering panoramic views onto the forests of the Nam Ha NPA. The well-worn Akh trail continues pass a temporary settlement of the upland rice farmers of Ban Nam O.
The first lodge on the top of a mountain at the Akha Phouli village of Ban Nam Lo is reached by late afternoon. A traditional Akha dinner cooked by the villagers marks the end of an adventurous first day.

Day 5: BAN NAM LO - PRASAT CAVE - VIENG PHOUKHA - LUANG NAM THA (B,L)




Rising early, we may be able to hear the sounds of the Black-Cheeked Gibbons. Tour of the village before setting off to a second Akha and Khmu village, Ban Taleng, where we’ll have lunch. During this day, we walk through the primary and secondary forest, and discover “Pa Mai Hok”, a bamboo forest area. After walking to the rough road following the Nam Mai River, the pick-up takes us to Oudomxay. Upon arrival, check in the hotel and relax. Dinner on your own. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 6: OUDOMXAY - MUANG KHUA - MUANG NGOI (B)




Breakfast at the hotel and leave Oudomxay early in the morning to Muang Khua. Continue your trip by boat cruise towards Muong Ngoy (starting 4-5 hours on board) . Muong Ngoy is an hour’s drive north of Nong Khiaw. The village is not large and has narrow paths lined with coconut trees and a common site where fishermen gather to mend their nets, creating an atmosphere of South Sea. Here, one easily finds the true lifestyle Lao: time seems to have stopped. Night in local guesthouse in Muang Ngoy.

Day 7: MUANG NGOI - NONG KHAIW (B)




This morning we cruise to Nong Khiaw. Following lunch, visit the historical cave of Phathok. The Nong Khiaw villagers used this cave as a war shelter during the 'Secret War' to shelter people from bombs dropped in the region. It is about 30 minutes' walk from Nong Khiaw town and follows beautiful scenery and great vistas in the surrounding tropical mountains. You will learn more about a secret part of the Lao history and explore the historical caves with your guide. From the cave you will have a beautiful view of rice paddies and the surrounding valley. Enjoy the sunset over the river. Meals on your own. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 8: NONG KHAIW - PAK OU CAVE - LUANG PRABANG (B)




Start your day with a nice drive passing picturesque scenery along the Nam Ou River - Laos’s longest inland river. Following lunch, we will take the boat cruise to Luang Prabang before the sunset with a stop at the confluence of the Nam Ou and Mekong Rivers to visit the Pak Ou Caves - a pantheon of gold Buddha statues tucked into the nooks of the limestone cliffs. It is then only a short distance from the caves to the village of Ban Xang Hai. Stop here to learn about LauLao (Lao whisky) and LauHai (Lao wine), before continuing down the Mekong to Luang Prabang. Check in at the hotel then take an evening stroll through the quaint streets and enjoy the sunset over the river and surrounding lush countryside. The evening highlight includes a visit to the local night market in the city center, where ethnic minority people come together to buy and sell their wares. Meals on your own. Day 9: LUANG PRABANG - XIENG KHUANG (B)




Today we drive from Luang Prabang to Phonsavan, passing through Laos’ pristine countryside. This is long drive (approximately 7 - 8 hours) with spectacular view of Lao rain forest and the mountain ranges. Along the way we will stop for photo opportunities and visit various hill tribe villages. Upon arrival, Visit the MAG exhibition then head out to the Plain of Jars. Explore Site 1 of the ancient and mysterious Plain of Jars: an enchanting archeological site, where hundreds of large stone jars lie scattered about the plateau. Meals on your own. Day 10: XIENG KHUANG – VIENTIANE (B)




Breakfast at the hotel and then we discover site 2 and site 3 in the different location and the journey to reach them offers glimpse of some typical local villages.
Take the short Flight to Vientiane. Upon arrival, our visit will take you to the key sites: National Museum, Wat Sisaket - the city’s oldest surviving temple with thousands of silver and porcelain images in the gloriously authentic temple compound that offers you a glimpse into the Vientiane of the past. The next stop is Haw Phra Kaeo. This large temple is beautiful both interior and exterior, it was built to house the famed Emerald Buddha in courtyards filled with frangipani trees. A stop at the older part of Morning Market is recommended before the visit Pha That Luang. The giant golden stupa is a sight to see as the bright gold holds a sharp contrast to the pure blue sky. Next you will go to climb the Arc De Triomphe of Laos, Patuxai. The massive arch has a beautiful mosaic tiled ceiling and once at the top you can see for miles around Vientiane. Meals on your own. Day 11: VIENTIANE - FLIGHT TO PAKSE - BOLAVEN (B)




Breakfast at the hotel and then transfer to the airport for your flight to Pakse. Upon arrival, our guide and driver will pick you up and start the tour. An excursion by car to visit the highlights of the fascinating Bolaven Plateau. The Bolaven Plateau, which was formed by an ancient volcano, is famous for its agricultural products including many coffee and tea plantations. The plateau has a number of tribal villages, some of them still practicing Stone Age culture. They use extremely primitive agriculture tools and conduct frequent spiritual ceremonies.
The first stop is at the Phaseum Resort. Here you will visit the Tribal Villages Museum to learn about the tribal vernacular architectures and life of the Southern Laos tribes. Continue to Tad Lo, on the Northern edge of the Bolaven Plateau. Tad Lo is touted as an eco-friendly resort near the Xeset waterfall. After lunch at the resort, continue to visit Alack and Nge tribal villages. Meals on your own. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 12: BOLAVEN - PAKSE - WAT PHOU - KHONG ISLAND (B)




After breakfast, transfer by road to UNESCO world Heritage Site, Wat Phou a spectacular pre-Angkorian temple. Return to Champassak, driving through streets lined with French colonial buildings.
After lunch, a short stop at Ban Nong Bune will give you the opportunity to observe wood carvers at work before continuing to Ban Kiet Ngong a small Lao village where you will embark on a 90 minute elephant ride through the forest up to Mount Asa. Ride through the Xe Pian Protected Area whose wetlands and forest offer a biodiversal ecosystem. This tour program was developed to provide the local villagers with a sustainable tourism project from which they can profit. Continue on to Khong Island, the biggest island in south Laos and the start of the 4000 Islands Region. Meals on your own. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 13: KHONG ISLAND - PAKSE (B)




Breakfast at the hotel. Cruise along the backwaters to explore Siphandone. During the rainy season, the Mekong River reaches a breadth of 14 kms, the river’s widest reach along its 4,350 km journey from the Tibetan Plateau towards the East Sea (Bien Dong); when the river recedes, it leaves behind thousands of islands and islets. Visit the surrounding islands of Done Det and Done Som for a glimpse into the traditional lifestyle of the fishermen. Continue to Done Khone Island and hike along its ancient railway built by the French in 1897 in order to bypass the powerful rapids when transporting goods from Cambodia.
Continue to the Sumphamith Waterfall. Return to Ban Khone. Board a local long – tail river boat to reach Ban Phiengdee for lunch. In the afternoon, continue by car to visit the magnificent Khone Phapheng Waterfall, the largest cascade along the Mekong River. A fault line caused the cascade, which is 6 km wide at this point, and the astonishing force of the water has cut dramatic gorges through the brittle bedrock. Lunch on your own at local. Afternoon you will be transferred to Pakse. Meals on your own. Overnight at the hotel.
