Day 1: HANOI ARRIVAL (WELCOME DINNER)




Arrival and welcome at Hanoi Airport. Transfer to check in at the hotel. The hotel is at your disposal from 2.00pm. Spend the balance of day to settle into your hotel and recover from jet-lag. In the evening, meet your guide again for a welcome dinner at one of the finest restaurant in Hanoi. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: HANOI SIGHTSEEINGS (B)




Full day tour of Vietnam’s capital city, including Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the traditional stilt house and the revered One-Pillar Pagoda. After that visit Vietnam’s first university, the thousand-year-old Temple of Literature.
In the afternoon, visit the Ethnology Museum where you can discover the diversity of Vietnam’s many ethnic groups. Return to city centre for exploring the diverse architecture of Hanoi, its famous 36 streets of the Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake by a walking tour. The highlight of the day will be a relaxing time at a traditional coffee shop in Hanoi and enjoy the egg coffee by a very experience local bartender. You will be impressive by this authentic local experience. Back to your hotel in the late afternoon and free at your leisure. Meals on your own. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: HANOI – TU LE (B,L,D)




Depart from Hanoi travelling through the Red River Delta to the village of Duong Lam. This is an ancient village – where many treasures of Vietnamese culture are preserved. Visit an ancient house and have lunch. After lunch continue to Yen Bai and then on to a Thai village in Tu Le. If time is permitted, we will take a walk through villages of the Thai people. Walking through Thai villages, you may have the chance not only to see the beautiful scenery but also to blend in with the daily life of the local people. Or if you feel a little tired, sitting on the lovely balcony, you can just relax, have a cup of tea, enjoy the sunset and have a chat with your hosts. Overnight at homestay in the Thai Village.
Notes: Our home stay in Tu Le is a communal house with a local family. We stay in a large room where each guest has a mattress, blanket and mosquito net. There are several basic toilets and a shower with hot water, separate from our room. We are right with the family and we can hang out in the kitchen any time. For people with sleeping difficulties, earplugs, eye mask, and sleep aids are recommended. The advantage is a unique chance to interact with a family and see how they live.

Day 4:TU LE – TAN UYEN (B,L,D)




Say goodbye to the lovely valley of Tu Le, and travel 2 Km to a main village center. Here you can witness lots of interesting activities at the early morning market day, the market being typically colorful and frequented by the various ethnics of this high mountain region. Stop at one of the most beautiful places for seeing the terraced rice fields: La Pan Tan and take a trek through the villages and hills in the area. This is the highlight of the day: you will pass through the most scenic areas; absorb the fresh air and marvelous views which will surely last forever in your heart. You will soon understand why this place was recognized as the national birthplace for terraced fields. The bus will pick you up at Cau Ba Nha where you can take in the amazing views of the terraced fields from the top; and then continue to Tan Uyen. Have lunch along the way, and then arrive at Tan Uyen – a lovely tea plantation at the foot of the famous Hoang Lien Son Mountain. Check in to the local homestay in Tan Uyen. If time is permitted, we will take a short walk to the source of the local hot springs where you can enjoy the invigorating waters together with local people before heading back to village to have dinner. Overnight at homestay.

Day 5: TAN UYEN – BINH LU – SAPA (B,L)




Transfer to Sapa, on the way, we can take a trek to visit lots of beautiful villages, homes to the ethnic people in Binh Lu. Notably, you can meet the most emblematic ethnics known as: Lao, Lu (Xa Pho). They wear the long traditional and colorful costumes adorned with handmade jewelry. Moreover, you can discover the true beauty in their kind faces and their black dyed teeth. Arrive in Sa Pa in the afternoon. Check in to the hotel and take the rest of the day at your leisure to discover the famous Hill Station town. Activities available and suitable to do on your own include: Shopping at the town’s central market, climbing to the peak of Ham Rong Mountain or discovering the hidden corners of Sapa; a good option may be sitting at a side walk cafe, sipping a cup of famous Vietnamese coffee and seeing ethnic people going to the market to buy and sell their wares. Day 6:SAPA – SIN CHAI – LAO CAI – OVERNIGHT TRAIN TO HANOI (B)




This morning you will leave Sapa town behind, take a short transfer to the small village of Sin Chai, inhabited by Black H’mong people. Sin Chai is located at the foot of Fansipan Mountain in an area covered by rain forest and under the protection of Hoang Lien National Park. Upon arrival at the village, you start the walk around and experience the daily life of the villagers who still maintain their ancestor’s way of life. You continue the walk out of the village, following a dirt trail running through rice paddy and corn hill along a narrow river, enjoying the spectacular scenery surrounding. After a short walk you will reach a suspension bridge where you also can visit a local house of the few Black H’mong families living here. You will then return to the village center, where you get on the vehicle and have a drive back to Sapa.
In the afternoon, free to walk around Sapa town or go shopping at local market until drive back to Lao Cai Station for the night train to Hanoi. Meals on your own. Overnight on the train in an air-conditioned cabin with soft sleeper berth (4 persons per cabin).

Day 7:HANOI – HALONG BAY (B,L,D)




Arrive back at Hanoi railway station at around 5.00 am, and then transfer to the hotel for breakfast and short rest. Then, leave Hanoi for Halong Bay by cruise shuttle bus, arriving around noon. Board a private traditional wooden junk. Enjoy fresh seafood lunch and the view of one of Southeast Asia’s premier tourist destinations. You will then arrive at a beautiful, secluded beach where your guides will teach padding techniques for your kayak adventure. Practice what you’ve learned for an hour before heading back to the junk for dinner and overnight on boat.

After breakfast, we continue kayaking to visit another beautiful isolated beach and a floating village. Then meet up with the junk again for cruising back to the harbour. Transfer directly to Hanoi for hotel check-in. The remainder of day is free at your leisure for your own exploration of the city. Meals on your own. Overnight at hotel
